Education course transfers
From 2018, The State Government of Victoria has required all students who wish to enrol in accredited ITE courses to complete a personal attributes test as part of the application for admission.
Students wishing to enrol in the following La Trobe University accredited teacher education courses will need to complete a Situational Judgement Test as part of the application for admission:
- Bachelor of Education
- Master of Teaching (Primary)
- Master of Teaching (Secondary)
Options for Situational Judgement Tests:
The La Trobe University’s Aptitude for Teaching Assessment (AFTA) is a free, online test that is designed for entry into La Trobe University Initial Education courses only. It cannot be used for other institutions.
AFTA consists of 15 scenarios that assess the following attributes:
- Professionalism
- Communication
- Problem-solving
- Self-regulated learning
- Teamwork
The Casper test is an alternative, administered by Acuity Insights. It is delivered online, the Casper test is a non-cognitive online test that assesses your personal and professional attributes. To register for the test and for more information, please visit the Casper website.
Please note: The available test dates are listed on the Casper website. If you have not completed the test by the final test date listed, please contact Future Students so that your application can be assessed further for alternative options.
Casper tests are typically valid for 12 months. To check validity, or if you require further information about Casper please view Casper FAQs.
Please note: If you do not complete a situational judgement test your request for transfer cannot be considered. Course transfers are based on several criteria, including academic requirements, situational judgement test results, and available places in the course. Completing a situational judgement test does not guarantee entry.
