Accept your offer and enrol in subjects
Congratulations on your offer to study at La Trobe University and welcome to the La Trobe community.
Follow these steps to get started and be ready to start your course if you are a new commencing domestic or international coursework student.

Getting Started at La Trobe
Once you have completed steps one to three, you have secured your place in your course.
Note: Some courses have limited places, so to secure your place you must enrol in at least one subject (equal to 15 credit points) by the lapse date stated in your offer. If you do not do this by your lapse date, your offer will lapse.
It can take 48 hours from when you activate your account to when you can access your student account.
Activate your account
To accept, decline or defer your offer you will need to activate your account and register and verify your identity with us. Watch this video tutorial if you need help activating your account.
When you activate your account you will need to select if you are a registered user. You are a registered user if you have verified your identity on the portal, including setting your username and password.
Your details will need to match your offer exactly for the system to recognise you. This means if you have a middle name, but didn’t apply with it, you would not include it in the registration portal.
Your identity will be verified, and you will be able to create your password if the information you entered matches the information in your offer.
We recommend you write down your La Trobe student ID number and password and register for our password reset tool.
You have now activated your account and are now a registered user. You will now be able to log into StudentOnLine to accept, decline or defer your offer.
Please note: if your application details don’t match your full legal name as they are registered with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), you will need to update your information after you have accepted your offer. Further information is available in the Updating your details in StudentOnLine FAQ.

Watch this video tutorial for guidance to accept an offer. Follow the below steps to accept your offer:
- Access StudentOnLine and enter your username and password
- Access your offer on the My Applications tile. Click the Offer Awaiting Response button to view your offer
- Review your offer details
- To accept your offer, click the Accept button. If you would like to study at a later time, you may be eligible to defer your offer. Please visit the deferral page to see if your course is eligible, and to apply to defer. If you decide not to accept this offer, select the More button to see your options
- You will still need to enrol to secure your place

To accept your offer, follow these steps.
Activate your account
Once you have completed the steps to accept you offer, you will receive a temporary password. This will be sent to the email address associated with your offer. If you have not received a password via email, contact our Student IT Support team.
When you receive your temporary password, you’ll need to reset your password online.
After you have reset your password, you can now log in to StudentOnLine and begin your pre-enrolment steps.

Activate your account

To accept your offer and activate your account, follow these steps.
International Students
After you accept your offer to study at La Trobe you will need to complete a set of pre-enrolment tasks that complete your profile.
The My Tasks tile will alert you to the tasks you need to complete before you can enrol and secure your place. Watch this video tutorial for information on how to complete your pre-enrolment tasks.
You must complete all outstanding tasks in the My Tasks tile in StudentOnLine before you can enrol in your subjects. If there are any outstanding tasks, you will not be able to complete your enrolment.
How to complete tasks:
- Select the My Tasks tile to see all mandatory tasks
- Select the task to complete. Submit or complete tasks by clicking the appropriate button
- Refresh the page when the task has been completed to view any outstanding tasks
Some important Tasks you will need to complete:
Enrolment Activities Form:
- Check your name and date of birth are correct and exactly match the name on your birth certificate or passport. If your name or date of birth do not match, you will need to submit an Amendment to Personal Details form before you can enrol
- Review and update your contact details and add contact information for your next of kin or emergency contact person
- Add your semester/term address
If you need to change this information at any time, you can update these on the My Details tile.
Submit your Unique Student Identifier (USI):
All students must submit a USI. If you do not have a USI, you will need to create one.

Before you enrol:
Ensure that you've completed all outstanding tasks in the 'My Tasks' tile in StudentOnLine before you enrol. If any tasks are still required, you will not be able to complete your enrolment.
- Check the University Handbook for an overview of your course structure (also known as a 'study plan')
Note: A typical full time study load is four subjects (60 credit points) each Semester or two subjects (30 credit points) each Term - Use La Trobe’s Study Plan Guides tool to assist you with visualising your course enrolment. The Study Plan Guides tool is available to support students starting a new undergraduate course with their enrolment

Enrol in your subjects:

All students must complete the compulsory modules.
Undergraduate students must complete:
- Academic Integrity Module (LTU0AIM)
- Respectful Behaviour and Culture (2024-RPC8010)
- Wominjeka La Trobe (ABS0WOM)
Postgraduate students must complete:
Graduate Research Students: you are not able to self-enrol in subjects. If coursework is a compulsory part of your course, the Graduate Research School will enrol you in the relevant subjects prior to the start of semester. If you are interested in enrolling in elective subjects, please complete the Add or Remove Subjects form.

Credit for Prior Study?
If you have completed previous university study, you may be eligible for credit toward your course. If you have all of the necessary documentation when you accept your course offer please submit your advanced standing application immediately.
You may be required to complete a Request for Government Assistance form via StudentOnLine and an electronic Commonwealth Assistance form (eCAF) via an Australian Government portal if you have a Commonwealth Support Place (CSP) or wish to access HECS-HELP, FEE-HELP and SA-HELP.
You will be sent a link to your student email to access the government portal after you have submitted your Request for Government Assistance form in StudentOnLine.

You can also view the Electronic Commonwealth Assistance Form (eCAF) video for information on how to complete this form. Please note, the process differs from the video - you must enrol in subjects before you complete your eCAF.

After you have enrolled in your subjects, use Allocate+ to create your personal timetable.
If there are clashes of issues check out the Timetable FAQs for assistance.
Please note: you will need to wait 1 hour after enrolling before you can create your timetable
Your student ID card is used in the library, for printing and photocopying, for building access and as ID during exams. You can also use your ID card to get discounts!
You can order your student ID card online the day after you enrol in one or more subjects.
Please note you will need to upload a passport quality photo. Your photo must be a JPEG image, no larger than 3MB in size.

Our Ready, Set, La Trobe! sessions have been designed by our ASK La Trobe team to answer the top questions asked by new students. Ready, Set, La Trobe! will get you ready to start your studies at La Trobe.
Enrolment Support Workshop
Our Enrolment Support Workshop connects you with the Student Advising team who will support you during your studies.
Getting started at Uni can sometimes feel a little overwhelming, that's why this session is a great place to start for all new students.
This session will cover:
- what to enrol into
- the student systems you will frequently use
- academic skills development
- navigating the Handbook
- free supports available at La Trobe to help you succeed

Now you’re enrolled, it’s time for Orientation! Orientation includes a range of sessions and activities where you will find out about La Trobe, your course, support services and resources you can access and top tips for getting ready to study.
Complete the compulsory online modules before Census Date:
- Academic Integrity Module (LTU0AIM) and Wominjeka (ABS0WOM): LTU0AIM and ABS0WOM will be planned on your study plan, and you should enrol in these in your first semester of your course commencement. You must complete the modules by the end of the teaching period that you are enrolled into or you will receive a result of NRA.
- Respectful Behaviour and Culture: This module is part of the University’s long-standing commitment to fostering a safe, respectful and inclusive community free of sexual harm, discrimination and violence.
There’s loads of support at La Trobe to help you succeed in your studies. You’re not alone! You’ve got this and we’ve got you:
- ASK La Trobe – for all your student needs. The ASK La Trobe team can help with accepting your offer, enrolment, timetables, student systems, fees and financial support, exams, results, graduations, international student issues and more.
- Student Advising – provides you with individualised support for your studies. Your Student Advisor is your main point of contact within the University. If you’re an international student, you can access tailored advice and support through your Student Advisor.
- Library study and research support - you can access study and research support through the Library both online and on-campus. Connect with Peer Learning Advisors or book a one-to-one consult with an Academic Skills Advisor, Librarian or Research Librarian. Visit our Maths, Science and Coding Hubs or attend a Library workshop for help with study and assessments. We also provide 24/7 online support.
- Health, Wellbeing and Inclusion - have a great range of programs to support you, from one-on-one appointments to group sessions and workshops.
- Indigenous Student Services – support for Indigenous students to succeed at La Trobe.
- Student IT Support team - help with any issues you are experiencing with La Trobe University Systems.

- Review your subjects in the Handbook. This is where you will find including subject learning resources (booklists), class requirements and assessment information
- Check out the Library
- Familiarise yourself with the LMS – the online learning environment that allows you to locate learning materials and activities related to your studies
- Set up Multi-Factor Authentication
- Access your La Trobe email - we will send all University notices and announcements to this email address
