Join La Trobe University for the ‘Industry: Lunch & Latte | Introducing CAD Frontiers’ event at the new Digital Innovation Hub, located on the University's Melbourne Campus (Bundoora).

Did you know? One Australian suffers a heart attack every nine minutes.

CAD Frontiers – a joint venture between La Trobe University, the University of Sydney, the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute and Monash University – is on a mission to move that number towards zero.

CAD Frontiers’ strategy focuses on driving innovation to transform heart attack prevention in Australia.

Early detection and treatment of the currently ‘invisible’ coronary artery disease (CAD) that causes heart attacks is key. Heart attacks could virtually be eliminated if we can identify disease – including silent CAD – early, and ‘hit it hard’ with established and emerging therapeutics.

The CAD Frontiers team stands at the forefront of cutting-edge coronary artery disease research and clinical practice, uniting a global team of clinicians, researchers, healthcare, and industry leaders to drive innovation in discovery science, clinical trials and commercial translation.

The free in-person ‘Industry: Lunch & Latte’ event promises to be transformative, as industry collaborators, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, advocates and individuals with lived-experience of coronary artery disease converge to learn more about CAD Frontiers and explore innovation and collaboration opportunities.

This event will be chaired by Professor Gemma Figtree, a member of the CAD Frontier leadership team and Chief Scientific Officer of CAD Frontiers, and a Professor of Medicine at the University of Sydney. Professor Figtree also serves as the co-lead for the Cardiovascular Theme at Sydney Health Partners, an NHMRC Recognised Research Translation Centre and holds the role of Chair for the University of Sydney's interdisciplinary Cardiovascular Initiative.

Facilitated by Professor Figtree, three speakers will participate in a panel discussion and share their unique insights and perspectives that encompass lived experience, research, and funding.

Speakers

Panel topics will centre on the CAD Frontiers Medical Research Future Fund goals, the need for innovative cardiovascular health technologies, how to raise community awareness of CAD and provide platforms for community engagement, and fostering a vibrant and sustainable MedTech ecosystem to accelerate CAD discovery and translation in Australia.

This session will be followed by an audience Q&A segment and networking.
