What’s Aspire Advance?
Your ATAR is just one way to get into university. At La Trobe, our research has shown that there are other ways to predict your success.
Our Aspire Advance rewards high performing Year 12 students who’ve studied first-year uni subjects with an early conditional offer to La Trobe.
Study a single undergraduate unit as well as your regular Year 12 subjects and we'll use your grade for a special La Trobe Entrance Score. There is no cost for this program, plus you’ll get credit for this subject when you start an eligible degree at La Trobe – so you’ll start one step ahead (for a related course).

Aspire Advance is available to students in their final year of VCE, HSC or IB, including unscored students.
How to apply

Confirm your eligibility
To be undertake Aspire Advance, you will need to be in your final year of VCE, HSC or IB (scored or unscored students).
You will also need to demonstrate a 70% average mark in your Year 11 results.

Explore your subject options
To take part in Aspire Advance, choose one subject to study alongside your school studies in either Semester 1 or Semester 2.

Submit your application
You will also need to complete the Aspire Advance and Achieve School endorsement form [DOCX 145.7 KB] and supply your Year 11 results confirming a 70% average and relevant support documents.

What courses are available after I complete Aspire Advance?
You'll be able to apply for all undergraduate courses, except:
- Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours), (Regional Entry), Bendigo
- Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours), Bendigo
- Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Medical), Bendigo
- Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Medical), Albury-Wodonga
Of course, you’ll also need to meet any other requirements for entry such as prerequisites or additional entry criteria (e.g. completion of the CASPer test for teaching courses) and complete the VCE, IB or interstate equivalent.
If your Aspire Advance subject is part of a bachelor course that you go on to enrol in, you’ll get credit for the subject(s) once you enrol – saving you HECS and giving you a head start.

An early Conditional Offer gives you reassurance that you have a place in your preferred course before completing the final weeks of your Year 12. It guarantees you a place in your preferred course once you complete Year 12, as long as you meet the course’s adjusted Aspire ATAR, subject prerequisites and other essential entry requirements.
You’ll study 100% online, so your La Trobe study can be alongside your Year 12 subjects.
At La Trobe, we believe a great indicator of how you’ll succeed at uni is how well you do in our university programs for school students.
We’ve looked at the performance of numerous students in our pathway programs to allocate a score associated with future performance in degree programs compared to other students.
Our La Trobe Entrance Score can then be matched to the rank you may receive for school studies. The table below shows what average grades you need in your Aspire Prepare and Aspire Advance studies to gain a La Trobe Entrance Score.
