Accepting your offer
Congratulations on being offered a place at La Trobe University.
By now you’ll have received your Letter of Offer, which contains important information regarding:
- course duration
- Orientation and enrolment session details
- indicative annual tuition fee for your course in Australian dollars
- confirmation of whether you have been awarded any credit from prior learning or work experience
- any conditions associated with your offer.
How to accept your offer
Before accepting your offer, please ensure that you have read the Letter of Offer carefully and met any conditions mentioned.
Please also carefully read the acceptance and pre departure guide and the University policy on Refund of Tuition Fees.
-
Submit final documentation
If the above criteria do apply to you, send the necessary documentation to La Trobe International. This includes:
- Print and complete the Offer Acceptance form attached to your Letter of Offer. Then, log in to the International Online Application System, select ‘Respond to Offer,’ and then ‘Accept Offer.’ Upload the signed Offer Acceptance form in the document box and follow through the prompts to accept the offer.
- Provide certified evidence of meeting any conditions specified in your offer, where applicable.
-
Make payment
You’ll then submit payment for the required deposit as outlined in your Letter of Offer.
For sponsored students, please provide a financial guarantee from the sponsoring organisation by responding to the email from the Admissions team. Alternatively, upload the documentation via our International Online Application System. On your application, select ‘Actions’, and then ‘Upload new attachment for this application'.
How to Make Payment
Your Letter of Offer contains important information, including annual indicative tuition fees. Once you’ve accepted your offer, you can pay via our International Online Application System.
Our online portal is a secure service that allows you to make your tuition fees and OSHC payments. You can use VISA/Mastercard, CIBC, Convera or Flywire (in your local currency, where available).
The sooner you are able to make the necessary payment(s), the faster you will receive your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) from us, which will help you apply for your student visa quicker.
-
Lodge your student visa application
Once you’ve submitted your documentation and payment, we’ll send you a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE). This will enable you to apply for a student visa. We will also send you further pre-departure and enrolment information.
Other things to consider
In some cases, students may receive a conditional offer. This means you must fulfil one or more conditions before you can be granted a firm offer.
If English language conditions apply to your offer, you must send evidence of your English test results to La Trobe International before or when you accept your offer.
The Australian Department of Home Affairs additionally requires students to provide a minimum International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score proof as part of the student visa application process.
For more information about English language requirements, see our page covering language requirements.
Certain academic conditions may apply to your offer, like completing your current studies. It’s important that you provide evidence of meeting these prior to or at the time of accepting your offer.
Original/certified documentation conditions
You must provide original or certified copies of all academic transcripts. If you’ve received an offer but did not submit the required transcripts with your application, you’ll be required to provide these prior to or at the time of your arrival at the University.
Credit for previous studies
If you're eligible for credit into your course, this will be reflected in your Letter of Offer. You can search for indicative credit on the La Trobe Credit page.
If you didn’t request assessment for credit when you submitted your application, you can still apply for credit by lodging an application. You need to do this before teaching begins for the subjects that would be covered by your credit.
Important: If the duration of your course changes, you must notify the Department of Home Affairs. This includes if you receive credit after your student visa has been granted.
Sponsored students receive financial assistance from a government, organisation or company to undertake their studies at La Trobe University. Receiving support from private individuals or relatives doesn’t fall under this category.
If you’re a sponsored student, please attach a letter of guarantee from an authorised person within the sponsoring organisation. Ensure the letter is written on the sponsoring organisation's letterhead.
If you have any questions, please email Sponsored Programs.
If you’ve received an offer to study at La Trobe University and think you may require support, it’s important to contact the Equity and Diversity Centre before you accept your offer. This enables the Equity and Access Unit (EAU) to determine your eligibility for services. Learn more about how we can support you.
If you plan to undertake a Master’s or doctoral degree, pay close attention to the acceptance deadline in your letter of offer. You need to return both the Offer Acceptance Form and Reply to an Offer of Higher Degree Candidature form by this date.
Your acceptance will be confirmed once we receive the payment for your required deposit. If you’re applying for a graduate research scholarship, acceptance will be confirmed when the Graduate Research School receives signed confirmation that you wish to accept the scholarship.
To request an extension to the acceptance deadline, please email international.GRS@latrobe.edu.au.
Please ensure you allow enough time to apply for your student visa prior to the commencement of classes. The current student visa processing times can be found at The Department of Home Affairs website.
