Dean's welcome
Welcome to the La Trobe School of Psychology and Public Health.
Welcome to La Trobe University's School of Psychology and Public Health.
Our School is leading the way in both shaping and preparing for a future where individuals, families, communities and organisations thrive. We are a welcoming School that supports belonging for all those who work or learn with us.
The School of Psychology and Public Health is staffed by talented and dedicated thought leaders who care deeply about making a difference. We deliver a large selection of health and wellbeing related courses and offer research opportunities through our world leading research centres that are recognised as sites of international excellence.
Our School has a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in psychology and public health that produce high-quality professionals filling critical workforce shortages in mental health, public health and health management.
Our staff work intensively with community and health industry partners to collectively ensure courses are developed and delivered in alignment with discipline and industry needs. The inclusion of lived experience is an integral component to our work and we strive for a culturally responsive and inclusive experience for all students, including First Nations students and those from underserved communities.
We celebrate our staff and students leading innovative research in a diverse range of areas that share the common goal of making a positive difference in the lives of individuals, families, organisations and communities. Our research performance has been officially ranked as above world standard.
Our four research centres – Olga Tennison Autism Research Centre, Centre for Alcohol Policy Research, Australian Research Centre in Sex Health and Society, and the Bouverie Centre – offer excellent opportunities for you to collaborate.
We are proud that our research serves to shine a light on real world topics that matter to society. Our findings have led to innovative and contemporary evidence-based improvements across a wide range of psychology and public health practice and policy domains.
We demonstrate La Trobe’s cultural values – accountable, connected, innovative and caring – in all aspects of teaching, research and collaboration.
I welcome you all to explore our website and invite you to stay connected to all our achievements and events through LinkedIn.
