Dean's welcome
It is my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all of you to the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences.
As a School that hosts STEM disciplines, we focus on offering high quality education and applied research to address the challenges and opportunities that come with the rapidly evolving digital world. Through our future-focused and industry integrated academic programs and cutting-edge research initiatives, we strive to equip our students with the skills and knowledge that meet the needs of our modern industries and communities.
We understand that education should adapt to the diverse needs of our students, empowering them to succeed in their academic pursuits no matter where they are in their education journey. We offer undergraduate and postgraduate programs, with majors and specialisations that reflect current practice and industry demand in STEM areas, and offer a wide range of online courses, short courses and stackable micro-credentials for upskilling and reskilling graduate students and professionals.
We foster a diverse range of industry engagement and placement opportunities, where our students can participate in projects, gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies, and contribute to ground-breaking discoveries. These experiences not only enhance their academic journey but also position them for future successes in industry and entrepreneurship. Our graduates are known for being job-ready and we are proud of our long history of high graduate employability.
We are dedicated to conducting applied research that contributes to societal advancements, and at the same time continue to nurture our strength in theoretical research that forms the foundations for future advancements. We also embrace a multidisciplinary approach to research, recognising that many of the most significant breakthroughs occur at the intersections of different disciplines. Our staff and students collaborate across traditional boundaries, in close partnership with industry, government agencies, and community organisations.
Thank you for your interest in our School. I welcome you all to explore our website and invite you to stay connected with us through LinkedIn.
