Our partnership with Cann Group Limited
CANN Group Limited is an industry leader, with a focus on the breeding, cultivation, and manufacture of medicinal cannabis products for sale and use within Australia. With licenced research and cultivation facilities in Victoria, CANN Group’s vision is to become a leading developer and supplier of medicinal cannabis.
The company became a Precinct Partner in 2017, moving its research and development operations to La Trobe University. Cann Group is also a major partner organisation within the ARC Med Ag Hub. The ARC MedAg Hub, established in 2019, is a $24+ million initiative supported by the Australian Research Council, industry and university funds.
In 2022, the successful partnership between LISAF and Cann Group received $5 million in federal funding for protected cropping research and for skills development for the future workforce. This will provide state-of-the-art capability for research in regional Victoria and transfer digital technology from a research environment into a production facility. Other partners in this initiative are the University of Melbourne and PharmOut.
