Our research
Our research focuses on the climate change impacts on work and the work of adaptation.
We engage in impactful, reflexive research, critically examining the question: What do we want and need to adapt, and how?
Our approach begins with understanding the foundations of our current functioning and how these functions are being impacted, or will be impacted, by climate change. Cascading impacts reflect society's existing complex linkages including global infrastructure, supply chains and networks which create extended dependencies and thus exposures for us.
We address the gap between community and organisational adaptation by focusing on work as purposeful activity.
We study climate impacts on foundational work, including health and community services, natural resource management, education, local government, emergency services, volunteers, and research institutions like meteorology and oceanography departments in universities.
Through our work, we aim to advance knowledge and strategies that enable societies to adapt effectively to the changing climate.
