Accreditations and memberships

La Trobe University is an accredited member of AACSB International — the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Only five per cent of business schools in the world have earned AACSB accreditation.

We’re one of them.

AACSB International is the world’s largest business education alliance and AACSB accreditation, awarded upon the review of all business degree programs at the bachelors, masters and doctoral levels, has been synonymous with the highest standards of excellence since 1916.

La Trobe Business School is a member of the Business Graduates Association. BGA offers exclusive and free career development advice and resources. Students can access CV building services and craft a compelling resume that stands out from the crowd. The services also enable students to search for job and match their skill set with those opportunities.

La Trobe Business School is a member of the European Foundation for Management Development Global and our La Trobe MBA is European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) Accredited.

The EFMD Accredited label designates endorsement through the most thorough international program accreditation system for business and/or management degrees. It is a benchmark imprimatur for an internationally recognised and peer-reviewed program.

The United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) was founded in 2007.

We became a signatory in 2008, one of the first Australian Business Schools to do so, joining leading organisations around the world committed to implementing the PRME principles.

Our aim as a PRME signatory is to educate our students to become responsible leaders who can balance the demands of business with economic, social and environmental sustainability. We do this by embedding principles of sustainability, ethics and responsibility across our curriculum, research and partnerships.

Another important aspect of PRME is building staff and student capacity on a deeper understanding of the United Nation's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These are part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

In 2013, La Trobe Business School became the first Australian business school to join the pilot phase of the PRME Champions Group and, in 2016, we were honoured to be confirmed as a PRME Champion in Australia.

Champions are recognised as ambassadors of the United Nations PRME initiative. We engage with and support local businesses and peer institutions, including playing a visible role in PRME Chapters, PRME Regional Meetings and with Global Compact Local Networks.

As a PRME Champion, we respond to systemic challenges faced by the PRME community including:

  • Working collaboratively to achieve higher levels of performance in transforming business and management education in five key areas: curricula, research, educational frameworks, sustainability-based partnerships, and thought leadership.
  • Serving the broader PRME community through active engagement with existing PRME Chapters, PRME Working Groups, Global Compact LEAD and other global opportunities, as well as to support broader and deeper implementation of sustainability principles in the institutional context of the PRME initiative.
  • Contributing to broader UN goals and issues, particularly helping to realize the Sustainable Development Goals.

LBS status as a PRME Champion was renewed in 2018, 2020 and 2022.
