Working together for a healthier future
When one of Australia’s leading health universities joins with one of Australia’s largest health insurance providers, the result can change lives.
In an Australian-first university and health insurer collaboration, we’ve partnered with Medibank for a healthier future.
Built upon a shared focus on health and wellbeing, our partnership is driving research, making world-class health services accessible to more people, and supporting better outcomes for La Trobe employees and students.
Announced in 2019, this partnership formalises and expands our existing research relationship with Medibank. Our research relationship spans several years and has resulted in a range of successful projects, including:
- A project evaluating the 11+ injury prevention program to prevent knee injuries in adolescent female football players, led by Dr Alex Donaldson.
- An injury prevention program for women in football, led by Professor Kay Crossley.
- A collaboration with Medibank and other partners to develop the National Osteoarthritis Strategy over 2017-2018.
Thanks to Medibank, La Trobe students and employees have access to a range of health and wellbeing activities and benefits, including virtual support during COVID-19.
Our students can also secure valuable industry knowledge and experience while they study through work placements, co-designed professional development programs and involvement in real-world projects.
Going forward, our partnership with Medibank will play a major role in the development of our University City of the Future and provide health benefits to the communities around our Melbourne Campus.
