The Department of Accounting, Data Analytics, Economics and Finance partners with a range of Australian and international organisations, governments and higher education providers on teaching and research.
Together, we are co-creating educational programs that meet the needs of business and government.
And, we are working on collaborative research projects to transform business, with a focus on responsible and sustainable business practices.
Education partnerships
Our education partnerships support a range of academic and student mobility programs.
Our international partnerships support the global mobility of our students, via student exchange or short-term education programs. They offer pathways for international students to study at La Trobe, either in Australia or through our transnational education (third party teaching) programs.
We also partner with industry on professional learning experiences – including internships, study tours and work-based projects – to ensure our graduates are work ready and meet the needs of employers.
We work with the following accrediting bodies to ensure our education programs meet or exceed minimum standards developed by experts in the field:

- Chartered Accountant Australia and New Zealand

Our Global accounting – Association of Chartered Certified Accountants studies specialisation in the Master of Extended Professional Accounting course allows students to complete four of the module subjects contributing to the attainment of the global Association of Chartered Certified Accountants studies accreditation recognition.
A graduate certificate and graduate diploma in Business Analytics is delivered as part of La Trobe’s partnership with leading global higher education online courses provider, Wiley Education Services. The courses have been developed using modern design thinking and curriculum development approaches to create student-centred and future-ready subjects and delivered as six-week modules.
Research partnerships
Our research partnerships support engagement with industry both locally and internationally.
We partner with a range of industry bodies to provide placement and training opportunities for our students, partner on funding opportunities and collaborate on research projects that integrate our expert academic knowledge and skills to address issues of industry importance.

AgriBio is Australia’s first integrated agricultural systems biology research centre and one of the nation’s premier state-of-the-art agribioscience facilities. It supports Victoria's agricultural sector through advanced research to improve productivity, fight disease and reduce environmental impact.
Our researchers partner on projects to provide data analysis and visualisation, economic policy development and modelling and business applications associated with sustainability and resource management.
La Trobe is leading a major research initiative with the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Palani, to address the growing challenges of urbanisation. This interdisciplinary collaborative network connects researchers, public sector and business professionals with expertise to work together to improve cities in Asia.

Our researchers contribute to the La Trobe Institute for Sustainable Agriculture and Food and the Care Economy Research Institute. These La Trobe research institutes focus on current challenges in Australia and internationally, including modelling of the Murray-Darling basin environment and integrating social robots into hospital and aged care provision.

Our researchers collaborate with La Trobe University’s Olga Tennison Autism Research Centre to examine the long-term employment outcomes for autistic adults. Industry partners include DXC Technology (developers of the award-winning Dandelion Program); Autism Spectrum Australia, Australia’s largest service provider for autistic adults; and Untapped Group, who connect organisations passionate about neurodiversity at work.
