Please note that being made a scholarship offer is not a course offer and does not guarantee a course offer. In some instances, particularly for future students, scholarship offers are made prior to the end of the calendar year, for enrolment the following year. Receiving the scholarship is dependent upon being made and accepting a course offer.
Future students may apply for some scholarships at La Trobe University via VTAC (Victorian Tertiary Admission Centre). If applying via VTAC, this makes the applicant eligible for all La Trobe Scholarships available via VTAC. However, there are some scholarships that can only be applied for direct to the University via the La Trobe Scholarships webpage. The applicant will need to apply for each direct application scholarship separately. Please note that completing SEAS via VTAC is different from applying for scholarships and does not constitute a scholarship application even though there is significant overlap in the information requested.
Scholarship applications will be assessed on the eligibility criteria and the evidence received, applications that do not meet the eligibility criteria or have not provided appropriate supporting documentation will not be considered.
Applications are ranked with all other applications after careful assessment of all the relevant information and evidence provided by the applicant. In some instances applications are ranked by criteria focused on disadvantage, and may use the VTAC algorithm and scoring guide. For some scholarships, various members of La Trobe University may be involved in selection, such as academics, relevant to the particular scholarship.
Some scholarships require documentary evidence related to the eligibility criteria, it is the applicants’ responsibility to ensure that all the required documentation is supplied. Find information about supporting documentation on the Supporting documentation requirements page
La Trobe University will not follow up or contact the applicant regarding missing or incomplete information in an application.
Once a scholarship closes, the applicant cannot provide additional evidence or statements, no further correspondence will be considered.
Some scholarships are highly competitive with more applicants than scholarships available. Meeting the eligibility criteria and supplying all required documentary evidence does not guarantee a scholarship.
In the case of La Trobe Vice Chancellors Excellence / Access Scholarships, the decisions are final and no further correspondence regarding the outcome will be accepted.
Applicants that are not awarded a scholarship may request reasons why their application was not successful (except for La Trobe Vice Chancellors Excellence / Access Scholarships). This must be done within 10 business days of receiving notice of the outcome of the scholarships and be done by the applicant, in writing to scholarships@latrobe.edu.au
A response will be issued to the applicant within 10 business days, detailing the reasons for the application not being successful
Applicants that were not awarded a scholarship may request a review of their application, in writing to scholarships@latrobe.edu.au, stating why their application should be reviewed. Before requesting a review of the application process, applicants must first request reasons why they did not receive a scholarship. If the applicant did not meet the eligibility criteria or failed to provide sufficient documentation, then the application process will not be reviewed. A review will be conducted based on procedural grounds only, no additional information or explanation of the applicant’s circumstances not included in the original application will be considered.
The applicant will be notified in writing of the outcome of a review within 15 business days of the request being received. Scholarships staff will not able to discuss the review or the outcome with the applicant.
