Dean and Head of La Trobe’s School of Allied Health, Human Services and Sport, Professor Russell Hoye, congratulated Melbourne City FC on their success over the past few years and said he looked forward to an ongoing, rewarding partnership.
“Melbourne City Football Club has seen extraordinary growth and success over the past few years and I congratulate them on their new location which will enable them to grow even further,” Professor Hoye said.
“Melbourne City FC has been located at La Trobe since its foundation, 10 years ago, and more than 30 per cent of Melbourne City staff are graduates of the University.
“While we are sad to see the club move off campus, we are delighted that our partnership will continue to flourish and grow, focused on providing student internships in sport science and allied health services and research.”
Melbourne City FC CEO, Brad Rowse, said he was pleased the important partnership between Melbourne City and La Trobe would be continuing.
“We have proudly called the City Football Academy in Bundoora our home for more than ten years and the relationship between La Trobe University and Melbourne City is a foundational element of our Club," Mr Rowse said.
“La Trobe sets the benchmark in Australia for sports related academia, research and qualifications and we look forward to continuing our valued relationship to drive sporting and educational opportunities across Melbourne and through our global networks.
“Whilst our base is moving, our presence will always be city-wide and a decade of our history lives at La Trobe.”
