The Times rankings, which are predominantly weighted towards research, citations and teaching, brought particularly pleasing results in the areas of international outlook and innovation.
La Trobe University’s international outlook was ranked 144 in the world while its innovation and links with industry came in with a ranking of 201.
“We continue to attract strong interest from around the world from high-profile academics wanting to join the team, and we have a great many talented overseas students who bring so much to our courses and research,” said La Trobe’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Dewar.
“La Trobe has close connections with industry and strong links to start-ups, with programs such as the La Trobe Accelerator which we launched this year with the Victorian Government.
“Importantly, we are attracting students who are coming here in search of the best possible preparation for a successful career.
“Employers and students alike appreciate the career focus of our course materials and innovative Career Ready strategy. Our graduates are ready for work when they leave La Trobe and this is recognised by employers.”
La Trobe’s Times Higher Education ranking sits alongside its QS position of 360 in the world and its recent ranking of 301 from the ARWU, Academic Ranking of World Universities.
