La Trobe in top 300 for computer science

La Trobe University has reinforced its position as a world-leading university for research and teaching of computer science, with today’s announcement of the 2018 Times Higher Education Computer Science subject ranking.

The University ranks in the 251-300 category.

La Trobe Pro Vice-Chancellor for Science, Health and Engineering, Professor Robert Pike, said this positive result reflected the University’s exceptional research and teaching strengths in this dynamic area.

“The wonderful news that we are ranked amongst the world’s top universities for Computer Science is testament to the dedication of our talented staff in what is a vibrant and fast-evolving sector,” Professor Pike said.

“This ranking reflects our high impact research in areas of global significance such as cyber security and big data management, coupled with our deep engagement with industry partners and our careers-focused teaching.

“With strong further investment occurring in this area, we look forward to further growth and recognition for this important subject at La Trobe.”

La Trobe University has a strong track record in Computer Science; it ranks in the top 350 in the latest QS subject ranking and is positioned in the 200-300 band for the ARWU.
