Excellence in Research - Early Career
Winner: Dr Andrea Bruder – School of Allied Health, Human Services and Sport (Bundoora campus)
Dr Bruder has demonstrated an innovative approach to her research that is having a direct impact on reducing injuries for women which will increase the broader participation in sport for women, which intimately reflect La Trobe's cultural qualities of innovation and care and align well with our research themes social equity and healthy people and communities.

Excellence in Research – Mid Career
Winner: Dr Sarah Callinan – School of Psychology and Public Health (Centre for Alcohol Policy Research)
Dr Callinan is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Alcohol Policy Research. Her research has influenced alcohol policy in Australia and internationally. Her Australian Research Council DECRA that focused on drinking in the home led to a successful study on COVID-19 and alcohol that has included highly cited papers and media attention, whilst demonstrating exemplary cultural qualities in supporting other researchers.

Excellence in Research Engagement and Impact
Winner: Associate Professor Adam Semciw and team – School of Allied Health, Human Services, and Sport (Bundoora campus)

For successful development of the innovative and world leading virtual Emergency Department (ED) in collaboration with Northern Health. It revolutionises healthcare delivery by offering an alternative that emerged during the pandemic, showcasing the potential of tech-driven care models.
Excellence in Graduate Supervision
Winner: Associate Professor Sebastian Dworkin – School of Agriculture, Biomedicine & Environment (Bundoora campus)
For maintaining excellent graduate research candidate outcomes within his lab and driving high standard of accountability, professionalism and supervision practices within his Department and as a Graduate Research Coordinator.
Overall Research Excellence Award
Winner: Professor Andrea Carson – School of Humanities and Social Sciences (Bundoora campus)
Professor Andrea Carson is a political communications scholar who has built an international reputation researching media trust, mis and disinformation, and is at the forefront of studying women’s participation and representation in politics. She leads by example and is an exemplar modern academic leader whose interdisciplinary scholarship and engagement benefits the academy, government, industry and advances public debate. Professor Carson shows an enduring commitment to gender equality and La Trobe’s cultural values of inclusion and diversity. Her research excellence positions her as a role model and leader within La Trobe University, her respective academic disciplines, and Australian higher education.
