In my research, I would like to disrupt the status quo of what is normalised as ways of knowing, and create opportunities for First Nations ways of knowing. My research in the principles of First Nations child rearing can provide the healthcare sector with a greater understanding of Aboriginal parenting. Part of Aboriginal research is being accountable to community, and implementation of my findings is just as important as the study itself.
I am interested in how we maintain common species across Victoria’s 14 million hectares of private land which is predominantly used for agriculture, so that we are not just focusing on the 3 million hectares of native vegetation. My research examines reversing the long-term impacts of habitat loss and degradation, and the loss of threatened and declining species, by working with local communities to conserve habitats and species.
