Dear students,
With flooding and extreme weather conditions continuing to impact our community across Victoria, we have introduced some additional support measures to help you during this difficult time.
We have streamlined the application process for special consideration for flood-affected students. You will not need to provide supporting documentation if your registered address is within a known flood-affected area. If you were temporarily located within a flood area, please apply and our staff will clarify if you need to provide any more information.
If you have on-campus assessments or learning activities, please only travel if it is safe to do so. If flooding or weather warnings prevent you from getting to campus, contact your subject coordinator to ask if alternative arrangements can be made. If power or internet outages disrupt any online assessments, you have grounds to apply for special consideration.
We have also introduced a $500 Flood Relief Bursary for students who have incurred financial impact from flooding, such as property damage, relocation costs, or other emergency expenses. We will assess the applications to ensure that payments are granted to the most seriously impacted students. We would also like to note that the Australian Government has established the Victorian Floods, October 2022 – Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment where you can apply for a one-off payment of $1000 if eligible.
In addition to the above, we would like to remind students of the free and confidential support services available from our Health, Wellbeing and Inclusion team. Please reach out to wellbeing.checkin@latrobe.edu.au for support.
Please stay safe, avoid unnecessary travel, and continue to check local emergency updates and weather warnings:
