Are you currently studying in a STEM field? Do you want to inspire the next generation of STEM Superstars? If the answer is yes…then we need YOU!
In2science is an innovative and proven partnership program that places volunteer university students (that’s you) as mentors in Victorian low socio-economic secondary schools. We are looking for students that are currently undertaking studies in any science (including health science), technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) course.
After an initial interview and training session to assess your suitability for the program, you will be matched to a year 7 – 10 science or maths class. You will visit that same class once per week over a 10-week period. During this time, you will work with the classroom teacher to help students with their classwork, relate classwork to real-world examples, share your own experiences and motivations for undertaking further studies and your passion for STEM.
Through your weekly interactions, you will help to:
- increase student engagement in science and maths and enhance the students’ understanding of content.
- dispel common misconceptions, break down stereotypes and provide a human face for science and maths.
- build the students’ own aspirations for STEM studies and career paths.

In2science has two delivery methods:
- In-class mentoring: you attend the classroom in person.
- eMentoring: you mentor a small group of students (1-3), generally in regional schools, via an online platform.
