We know the job market is competitive but as a La Trobe student, you have access to a range of programs designed to help you graduate with real-world experience and a competitive edge.

Take advantage of the university-wide elective industry placement subjects and gain real-world skills while earning academic credit.

What do we mean by university-wide? Well, these placements expand across multiple disciplines meaning you could find a placement that matches your field of study.

Studying psychological science? You could be a wellbeing student intern at a high school. Studying marketing, media or communications? Become a marketing & communications assistant. Perhaps you’re a biochemistry student? You could apply to be a medical science student working in a lab!

How does it work?

There are both undergraduate and postgraduate placement opportunities available through this program.

The placement opportunities listed are multidisciplinary and are provided to La Trobe students who have elective availability in their study plan. Once you’ve decided on a placement you’re interested in, you can apply directly.

Career Ready Assist

All La Trobe students have complimentary access to Career Ready Assist, an interactive online tool designed to help you prepare for placement applications and boost your employability.

This platform helps you build your resume,practice interview skills and provides AI-powered feedback on your CV and interview techniques.  For tips on putting together a cover letter for a placement application,  visit CareerHub.

Personalised support

You can talk to a Career Ready Ambassador for support with your CV and Cover Letter. Find out when a Career Ready Ambassador is available at your campus.

Financial support available

You may be eligible for an Industry Placement bursary!  If you’re successful, you’ll receive a one-off payment of $1000.
