Wear It Purple Day 2024

Pride Week at La Trobe ends with Wear it Purple Day on the 30 August. This day is celebrated annually and is a day dedicated to fostering safe, supportive and inclusive environments for LGBTIQA+ young people. It began in 2010 as a response to global stories of bullying and harassment leading to tragic outcomes for rainbow youth. The day serves as a reminder that everyone deserves to be proud of who they are, regardless of their gender identity or sexuality.
We encourage you to wear purple on Friday 30 August, standing in solidarity with LGBTIQA+ communities, raising awareness and promoting acceptance to ensure that all young people feel seen, valued and supported.
