This free in-person event, led by La Trobe’s Care Economy Research Institute, will feature industry guest speakers Darren Midgley - CEO, Sunraysia Community Health Service and Sandra Slatter - President, Heathcote Dementia Alliance and spotlight opportunities and challenges within Australia’s Care Economy. This is the second session in the ‘Industry: Lunch & Latte’ hosted by La Trobe Industry.

About
Led by Prof Irene Blackberry, Director, Care Economy Research Institute (CERI) – Australia’s first institute dedicated to all aspects of Care Economy research – presentations will centre around the CERI mission to break down silos in the health and social care sectors and create a platform to co-design and implement the next generation of services across all care economy domains.
Industry leaders will join the discussion and explore the Green Connect Dementia Respite Project's impacts and implications.
Australia is at a pivotal moment where the importance of care in our society has never been clearer. The challenges and rewards of working in the care economy sector are immense, and now is the time to come together to shape its future and make a positive difference.
This event promises to be transformative, as industry collaborators, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and advocates converge to converse, network and innovate.

The Care Economy Research Institute was established in 2023 by La Trobe University in recognition of the crisis facing our care sectors, and the conviction that together researchers and industry partners can make a positive difference.
The institute aims to:
- Develop care models based on evidence and trialled in the field
- Demonstrate scalability and replicability of care models
- Accelerate the adoption of technology by incorporating insights from our dedicated group of care end-users
- Harness data to demonstrate the real-world impact of services and products
- Leverage collective research and industry capacity and capability to advocate for systemic change.
