Real impact happens with real action
We all know that global impact needs to start somewhere, so we're making it happen right here and now.
At La Trobe, you’re not just shaping the future – you’re part of a community of academics, researchers, graduates and industry professionals that are on-the-ground, transforming lives every day, including today.
Whether it's in hospitals helping in moments that matter, or in labs unlocking the secrets of carbon dioxide in soil to protect the nation’s food supply, La Trobe’s impact in health, science and technology is real.
Making a real impact here and now
A glimpse into our impact
GOING 100% GREEN
We’re on track to become Victoria's first major university to be carbon neutral by 2029 – which means all our campuses.
Our Mildura and Shepparton campuses are already Net Zero and were the first university campuses in Victoria to reach that milestone.
SUPPORTING UNIQUE PATHS
The La Trobe Study Model helps students shape their university experience to combine their interests and suit their lifestyle.
Students can also translate their knowledge into the real-world and start seeing their impact even before they graduate, with up to 400 hours of placement.
PRESERVING INDIGENOUS WILDLIFE
La Trobe’s Bundoora Campus is home to our Nangak Tamboree Wildlife Sanctuary where we’re uncovering the science and history behind native flora and fauna.
We’re proud to be the only university in Australia with a dedicated wildlife sanctuary on-campus, open for our community to explore.
PARTNERING WITH THE BEST
Great change takes collaboration, so we partner with some of the best out there.
From research to placements and course co-design, at La Trobe you're never too far from some of today’s most powerful players, like CSIRO, The Australian Ballet, Carlton FC, CISCO, Medibank and NGV.
GLOBAL LEADER FOR BUILDING HEALTHY COMMUNITIES
We’re serious when we say we’re making a real impact.
That’s why in 2024, Times Higher Education ranked La Trobe 4th in Australia and 12th in the world for advancing healthier communities and supporting health equity.
