Dr Samantha Grover

PhD in Agricultural Science, 2007

Soil Scientist and Lecturer, RMIT

Dr Samantha Grover is a soil scientist and lecturer at RMIT.

She holds a PhD in Agricultural Science from La Trobe University, and is a member of the Class of 2007.

There were two key factors that drew Samantha to La Trobe when she decided to complete post-graduate studies.

“I chose to come to La Trobe University to study Honours and then to do my PhD because of the research excellence and the focus on students," Samantha said.

“It’s a luxury to get to study something really interesting that you’re really passionate about."

Samantha's studies continued La Trobe's reputation for research excellence when it was used to influence political policy.

"I was really inspired by the fact that the research from my PhD was presented to Victorian Government Task Force that decided to ban cattle grazing in the Alps in 2005," she said.

Doing research that engages with real issues is something that La Trobe does well.

After some time away from La Trobe, Samantha was eventually enticed back to work at the university.

“The opportunity to come here and work with AgriBio was just such a great opportunity," she said.
